Kyle Evans made a belated start to his National Formula Ford career at Sandown Raceway for the opening round of the 2022 Australian Formula Ford Championship.
Evans had earmarked visits to the southern states prior to a full time foray into the national category, though those plans were effectively scuttled by the ongoing border restrictions that had plagued motorsport for almost 2 years.
He couldn't have picked a better moment to commence a national campaign, with Sandown International raceway the spiritual home of Formula Ford. Kyle faced stiff opposition for his first visit to Sandown with 37 cars entered for the first event as a reincorporated Motorsport Australia category.
Top 20 finishes in Race 1 and 3 were puctuated by a dnf in Race 2 after a mechanical issue. Kyle currently sits 18th in the championship standings.
