KYLE EVANS RACES TO CHECKED & SECURES PODIUM

Sunday March 28 2021

There is only one podium in Motorsport and there is only one top step and everyone is in pursuit of it.  16-year-old Kyle Evans  raced to the checked flag and secured 1st Place Podium in his Duratec Powered Spectrum at the MG Car Club - Round 1 of Motorsport Australia - Qld State Championship event held at Morgan Park Raceway over the weekend 26-28 March 2021 with an outstanding 191 competitors entered to compete.

To achieve a top step podium position everything needs to align.  A common misconception about Motorsport is it is easy.  Yes, we can all put the foot to the floor and speed around an empty track, but there is so much more to racing.  Race car drivers need to able to read tracks, develop incredibly quick reflexes, gauge distances, patience, commitment and intense focus.  Kyle competed on track against twenty-two open-wheelers in three separate racing categories of Formula 3, Formula Ford and Sports cars.  Kyle competed directly against five other Duratec competitors whilst being aware of other competitors running their class race on the same track at the same time.  Each race was a rolling start with a small staggered time between the three categories on track.

Kyle qualified in 3rd place with a best time of 1:19.534.  He commenced race one in 3rd place and finished in 2nd place with a best lap time of 1:19.918.  Race 2 had no recorded times with a 4th place finish whilst Race 3 was a 10 lap race Kyle started in 4th and finished in 3rd with a best time of 1:19.138. Kyle started race three in 4th position and finished in 3rd place with a best time of 1:19.138.  The final race of the day Kyle commenced in 3rd place and finished in 1st place and completed the event as Winner overall for Duratec class.
